Ehrman Crest Elementary/Middle School

April 20, 2022

Dear Seneca Valley Families,

We are writing today to share our plan for proposed adjustments to student attendance zones, grades K-6. While this directly impacts elementary grades, we understand such changes ultimately touch our whole school community, which leads us to this important K-12 family letter.

As you are most likely aware, we will be closing Evans City Elementary/Evans City Middle School at the conclusion of this school year, and are excitedly preparing to open Ehrman Crest Elementary/Ehrman Crest Middle School for the 2022-23 school year. This state-of-the art facility, designed in part with input from the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum, includes many new and unique features that we look forward to sharing with our families when the doors open in August.

Due to the physical location change of the new K-6 school and a need to study our ever-growing communities, we engaged with experts in the field of demography and feasibility this past winter. These in-depth, long-term assessments allowed us to develop a proposed adjustment plan that will ease capacity in all K-6 schools during a time of building transition and incremental population growth. Moving forward, it also allows us to create and expand school facility space for future programs and initiatives.

Ultimately, our overall goal is to provide the same kind of exemplary education and class sizes our families have come to expect. These changes will allow us to do that.

The first key takeaway for all current Evans City Elementary/Middle School families:
•    Beginning with the 2022-23 school year, all students currently attending Evans City Elementary/Middle School, grades K-5, will attend Ehrman Crest Elementary/Middle School (current sixth graders will naturally be promoted to Ryan Gloyer Middle School, grades 7-8)
